AMIB is proud to recognize Kaylia Mighty as the recipient of this year’s Sister Mary Byrnes Caregiver Award, honoring her compassion, dedication, and commitment to excellence in caregiving.
Kaylia joined AMIB five years ago after being referred by a friend who had worked at AMIB. After interviewing at the main office, she was hired, marking the beginning of a career rooted in service, growth, and heart. Kaylia shared that receiving this award made her feel truly recognized and appreciated, a meaningful acknowledgment of the care she brings to her work every day.
Over the years, Kaylia has worked in several AMIB homes and values the opportunity to support a wide range of residents while collaborating with many different team members. She is motivated by her strong interest in the mental health field and consistently finds small ways to incorporate that passion into her daily work. One of her most meaningful memories comes from her time at the Tinton Falls home, where she connected with a resident over a shared love of cooking, an experience that reminded her how small connections can have a powerful impact.
Kaylia is known for her individualized approach to care. She believes in practicing patience with residents, coworkers, and herself, especially during challenging moments. By blending education, training, and intuition, she strives to provide person-centered support that respects each individual’s needs and communication style.
Her creativity is another sign of her caregiving. From hosting group home painting parties to taking housemates to the local community GoodWill to donate items, Kaylia goes beyond routine responsibilities to create meaningful experiences for AMIB residents.
Kaylia holds her undergraduate degree from Georgian Court University and is currently working toward earning her master’s degree in Behavioral Analysis, reflecting her commitment to continued learning and professional growth in hopes of deepening her impact in the field.
Recently promoted to Relief Manager, Kaylia views her new role as a reflection of her personal and professional growth. She also appreciates AMIB’s flexibility, which allows her to continue her education while balancing the needs and schedules of the residents she supports.
Congratulations to Kaylia Mighty, and thank you for the heart, creativity, and dedication you bring to the AMIB community each and every day.
