Sample Ways to Give Planned Gifts

Do you want to help the multiple impaired blind and secure the future of AMIB, protecting those residents whose families are no longer able to adequately care for them?
You can do this by joining The Legacy Society and making a charitable bequest or planned gift that will give AMIB this secure future. Many opportunities for planned gifts exist. Some examples include:

MAKING A BEQUEST:

A tax-deductible bequest in your will is an excellent way to make a gift to AMIB that may not be possible during your life. If you already have an up-to-date will and want to include a provision for the AMIB Endowment Fund, ask your attorney to add an amendment, known as a codicil. For example:
“I give and bequeath to the AMIB Endowment Fund, 35 Beaverson Boulevard, Suite #13, Brick, NJ 08723-4259, the sum of $_____________ (or ____ percent of my estate) and/or the following property.”

CHARITABLE REMAINDER TRUST:

You can make this kind of gift by giving assets to a trustee and naming the AMIB Endowment Fund as the irrevocable beneficiary of the “remainder” upon termination of the trust. Assets are invested and a percentage or set annual amount paid to you (or whomever you designate) for a set period.

GIFT OF INSURANCE POLICY:

Perhaps you have paid-up insurance policies you no longer need. You could name AMIB Endowment Fund as the charity beneficiary of that policy and generate a charitable tax deduction on your estate. You can also make a contribution of a life insurance gift by making AMIB Endowment Fund the owner of the policy, or by turning it in for the cash value. In such cases, you are entitled to a charitable tax deduction for the approximate cash value of the policy. Ask your insurance agent for an assignment of ownership form and advice on how such gifts can be made.

GIFT OF PERSONAL RESIDENCE:

You can arrange to give your residence or vacation home to AMIB and continue to use it for the rest of your life. Then AMIB would be free to sell the property and invest the proceeds. Such a gift provides considerable tax deductions to yourself during your lifetime, and to your heirs.

GIFT OF APPRECIATED PROPERTY:

You can realize maximum tax benefits by a gift of appreciated long-term capital gain securities or real estate. In addition to receiving a tax deduction for the fair market value of your gift, you can avoid tax on the capital gains. Before undergoing this type of gift, please consult with your tax attorney.
